🎁 Wish an Orphan Child a Happy Birthday

In many shelters and orphan homes, birthdays often go unnoticed. But you can change that.

The "Wish an Orphan Child a Happy Birthday" project by GUCM allows mentors and volunteers to make a child feel seen, loved, and remembered on their special day — with a heartfelt wish and a thoughtful gift.

To bring joy and emotional connection to orphaned or abandoned children by celebrating their birthdays with love, recognition, and small gifts — organized by GUCM mentors and volunteers around the world.

1. Choose a Child
    
   • GUCM provides you with a birthday calendar and child profiles (with basic details, name, age, country).
      
   • You select a child whose birthday is coming up that month.
      

1. Send a Birthday Wish
    
   • Write a personal birthday message, a letter, or a short video greeting (you can stay anonymous if you prefer).
      
   • GUCM will deliver your message directly to the child on their birthday.
      

1. Offer a Birthday Gift
    
   • You can sponsor a small birthday gift (~$20–$30): such as a toy, shoes, outfit, cake, art set, or sports gear.
      
   • GUCM volunteers near the child will arrange the surprise party or gift delivery and send you pictures or a thank-you note.
      

1. Repeat Annually or for Multiple Children
    
   • You may sponsor multiple children or repeat this gesture for the same child each year — building a long-term emotional bond.
      

• A birthday cake with candles
   
• A toy or book the child enjoys
   
• New shoes or clothes
   
• Stationery or drawing materials
   
• A birthday card or message from you
   
• A group celebration with other children in the shelter
   

• A thank-you message or drawing from the child (optional)
   
• A photo of the birthday moment (with consent)
   
• A certificate of recognition as a “Birthday Buddy Mentor”
   
• Website mention (if you choose to be listed publicly)
   

• Get your friends or workplace to “adopt” a birthday week or month
   
• Celebrate your own birthday by matching a gift for a child
   
• Host a virtual birthday card signing event with your network
   
• Ask your child or students to sponsor a birthday as a family project
